Bristol, UK – September 26, 2007 – ClearSpeed Technology (LSE:CSD), the world leader in acceleration for high performance computing (HPC), today announced an agreement with Tao Computing to sell HPC clusters and solutions equipped with ClearSpeed Advance™ accelerators to South Korea’s national laboratories, major universities, and leading industrial corporations.

Tao Computing is a leading supplier of HPC systems to the major research institutions in South Korea. The company has a breadth of experience working with leading HPC vendors Hewlett Packard and IBM. With a team of research scientists, hardware engineers, and HPC software developers, Tao Computing is ideally positioned to support the growing demand for accelerated heterogeneous systems.

With experience working with well known Korean companies including Samsung Research Institute, Hyundai Research Institute, LG Research Institute and national laboratories ETRI – Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and KITECH – Korean Institute of Industrial Technology, Tao Computing has developed the breadth and depth of capabilities to deliver the HPC systems that are powering Korea’s economic growth.

To support the continued development of Korean technology, KITECH is funding Tao in a partnership to adapt Z-CAST to exploit ClearSpeed acceleration. Z-CAST is a compute-intensive application for casting simulations that was developed at KITECH with a significant user base throughout Korea and growing presence in China, Japan and the rest of Asia. KITECH and Tao Computing are enhancing Z-CAST with ClearSpeed acceleration capabilities to prepare for launching Z-CAST on the world market.
