Why Heterogeneous Acceleration?
Most of us already use several types of heterogeneous acceleration every day. The reason is that application-specific procecssors typically deliver better performance per watt, performance per mm2 and performance per dollar. They often deliver higher absolute performance and do it in smaller form factors than the general-purpose processors that they replace.
